    Saturday Morning

    The Forge Cools

At the end of a hard month you do not count the blows you took; you run your thumb along the edge and learn what the heat actually made.

    The Practice

This morning, set the work fully aside and take honest stock of the month without grading yourself — what did the pressure forge, and what did it merely scorch. Walk somewhere unhurried and let the question move at the pace of your feet rather than your ambition. Feel the difference in your body between tired-and-depleted and tired-and-tempered; only the second one means you built something. The forge has done its work this month. Let it cool, and carry the edge forward.
