The Practice

Before email, before any screen that contains other people, give the first ninety minutes to the hardest piece of work on your week — the one you would otherwise dread into Thursday. Set a timer, put the phone in another room, and start ugly. The body learns the week's tempo from its first motion; begin in reaction and the whole week reacts. Begin in command and Monday sets the gradient everything else rolls down.
