    Saturday Morning

    The Cold Start

Rest is not the reward for the year. It is the maintenance that makes the year possible.

    The Practice

This morning, do not open the year's plan. Make something warm, sit with it, and let your nervous system register that nothing is owed yet. Walk for twenty minutes at a pace slower than feels productive — let the body lead, not the to-do list. The engine you lit on the first does not need revving on the third; it needs the oil of a quiet hour. The body remembers how to start when it has first been allowed to stop.
