    Saturday Morning

    The Low Gear

There is a pace that looks like nothing and covers everything. The weekend is for shifting into the gear that does not burn fuel.

    The Practice

Today, do one restorative thing slowly and completely, with no clock — cook a real meal, tend a plant, read something with no use. Resist the reflex to optimise it or make it productive. The nervous system that ran in high gear all week needs proof that low gear exists and is safe. Let the body learn the difference between resting and merely stopping. The distance continues Monday; this is the gear that lets it.
