Audit your last working day in two columns: real work and fake work. Real work moves an outcome; fake work moves your anxiety. Find the one schlep you have been avoiding because it is unglamorous and hard — the migration, the difficult call, the unwritten doc — and do it first thing, before the fake work can crowd in. The avoided task is almost always the one with the highest leverage.
